Rail-Ex Taunton 2026 returns on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th October 2026 at Taunton School in Somerset. Organised by Somerset Railway Modellers Club, this popular exhibition, known as "The Best in the West", will feature more than 30 high-quality model railway layouts, specialist traders, demonstrations and society displays.
With an impressive variety of scales, eras and railway settings, Rail-Ex Taunton promises an enjoyable weekend for experienced modellers, collectors and families alike.

Over 30 Model Railway Layouts
Rail-Ex Taunton is known for showcasing exceptional railway modelling, and the 2026 exhibition brings together more than 30 layouts representing a wide variety of scales, gauges and railway periods.
Highlights include Whiteacres, a detailed OO gauge layout depicting a fictional Staffordshire and Derbyshire railway; Kreuzweg, featuring spectacular Swiss mountain railway scenery; and Westcliff, imagining a thriving GWR seaside terminus in 1920s Dorset.
Visitors can also enjoy layouts such as Providence Colliery, Bristol Avon Bridge, Roxby Town, Woodhead and Tan-y-Bwlch, alongside narrow gauge, modern-image and international railway displays.
Specialist Traders and Modelling Demonstrations
Alongside the layouts, the exhibition will feature specialist traders offering model railway products, tools, kits, scenic materials and accessories.
Exhibitors include Cheltenham Model Centre, Lord & Butler Model Railways, Ray Heard Model Railways, GLR Bespoke Services, MMR Models and Trainsporters.
Visitors will also have opportunities to meet railway societies and experienced modellers, including representatives from the N Gauge Society and West Somerset Railway Association.
